SHOPIAN — A militant has been killed in a military operation with security forces in Turkwangam village of Zainapora area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Friday.
A police officer identified the slain militant as Muneeb Ahmad Shiekh, 20, resident of Tak Mohalla, Shopian. He was missing since January this year, the officer added.
As per reports, Muneeb was pursuing graduation and went missing from his home in January 2022. “The family tried to find Muneeb, but to no avail,†they said. He had joined the militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba, they added
As per reports one army man identified as Anil was also injured during this military operation and was accordingly shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar for treatment.
Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army, and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight.
