SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a person in Shopian who was allegedly behind the killing of CRPF personnel along with other associates.

A police spokesperson said that in Shopian they arrested an active militant Rukhsar Sadiq Thoker son of Mohammad Sadiq Thoker, a resident of Rangmarg-Sedow who had killed a CRPF personnel Mukhtar Ahmad Doie at Check Chotipora area of Shopian. “On his disclosure weapon of offence (Pistol) was also recovered from his possession.”
During the course of the investigation, the police statement said he disclosed the identity of another associate who facilitated him in the “commission of crime”. He has been identified as Amir Ahmad Dewan son of Khursheed Ahmad Dewan, a resident of Bohrihallan, Shopian who was also arrested and on his disclosure motorcycle (Pulsar) used in the “commission of crime” was also recovered.
During further questioning, Rukhsar Sadiq confessed that he is a close associate of active militant Abid Ramzan Sheikh, a commander of militant outfit LeT and is a “hybrid militant” of the organization. Furthermore, he revealed that he along with his associate had committed the crime on the directions of said Abid Ramzan Sheikh, the police claimed.

Moreover, the police statement said that the forces have arrested four militant associates affiliated with JeM. During the investigation of case FIR No. 50 and 51 of 2022 of Police Station Pulwama, it was established that four youth were actively associated with JeM and providing logistic support, transportation and other facilities for the commission of militant activities, the police claimed.
The arrested associates have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Shaban Rather resident of Chewa Kallan, Naseer Ahmad Malik (Madrasa administrator) son of Ab Hamid Malik resident of Wasoora, Rayees Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Nabi Sheikh resident of Khanpora Newa and Yawar Rashid Ganai son of Ab Rashid Ganai resident of Gudoora Pulwama.
