The boy identified as Azan Ahmed, son of Manzoor Ahmed Ganie of Gund Abrahim locality of Pattan was mauled to death by stray dogs after he went missing on Sunday afternoon.
Baramulla — The local residents of Gund Abrahim locality of Singhpora area of Pattan in Baramulla district on Sunday held a protest and blocked Baramulla-Srinagar National highway after a 12-year-old boy was mauled to death by stray dogs.
According to a local news agency, the boy identified as Azan Ahmed, son of Manzoor Ahmed Ganie of Gund Abrahim locality of Pattan was mauled to death by stray dogs after he went missing on Sunday afternoon.
They said that his body was later retrieved from a local stream after he went missing.
Reports said that the local residents held a protest demonstration and blocked Baramulla-Srinagar highway against what they called as lackadaisical attitude of the concerned authorities for failing to remove garbage from the locality, which has given rise to population of stray dogs.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and investigation has been taken up in this regard. (Agencies)
