SRINAGAR — Two minor siblings were injured after a thief entered their house and attacked them with sharp-edged weapons at the Momin-Abad area of Batamaloo in summer capital Srinagar on Friday.
A police official told a local news agency, Kashmir Dot Com, that the accused identified as Umar Yousuf Wani son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani, a resident of Firdous Abad lane no 15 was arrested after he entered the residential house where the house owner identified as Mohammad Yehai Khan had left for Friday prayers. “He attacked two minor girls inside the house, however, both are stable,” he said.
Acting swiftly, Srinagar police in a tweet informed “The accused namely Umer Yousuf Wani who trespassed a house and tried to attack two girls in Batmaloo area has been arrested by Police in a swift action. Crime against Women will not be tolerated at all.”
“A case under the relevant section of the law is being registered in this regard and further investigation is on and the other accused who escaped from the scene is also being investigated,” the police official said.
